Karel Kreps worked as an artist blacksmith since 1979 in the smithery of architect Gustav Semerak in Prague. In 1989 he went independent. He has built up his own blacksmith shop in the village of Vysoke Popovice, where he lives and works since then.
Karel Kreps attends international blacksmiths meetings and exhibitions called Hefaiston on the castle Helfštýn regularly. He won seven prizes in a contest of "Sword of year" which takes place on the castle Sovinec. He participates regularly in many other exhibitions from which he gained several prizes. He also exhibits in Vienna and Munich.
During his career he also participated in many restoration works in Prague, for example on Kings road, Sternberk pallace on Hradcany (Castle district in Prague) and refectory of Charles University. His works are also in towns of Třeboň, Karlsbad, Brno, Břeclav, Mikulov and other places in the Czech Republic.
His works can be found also in Austria, Italy, Germany and USA.
